Check out this recent post on the Information Literacy Weblog (thanks, y'all) that discusses (and links to) the Horizons 2006 report, where I found this article on RSS feeds used as a research aid . The report is extremely interesting, read it if you have a chance. I am very curious how some of these new technologies will be used in IL. Some of them seem fairly obvious, like educational gaming and wikis and such. The section on using cellphones is particularly interesting, in light of the new iPhone announcement. Treo Smartphones and T-Mobile Sidekicks have been around, but with the seeming ubiquitousness of iPods on campus, I can easily envision a day when the white earbuds are all connected to iPhones.
In other news, everyone on campus is gearing up for the new semester, which starts next Tuesday. We've got some new things going on for us as well. Our General Information Literacy Tutorial is completed. We're also offering Drop-In Orientations the first two weeks of the semester.
